The BBC have announced that country-pop trio Remember Monday will be representing the United Kingdom at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland in May 2025 with their song ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’ – an upbeat pop track full of energy, excitement and drama.

Co-written by the girls along with Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan aka British production duo Billen Ted, Thomas Stengaard and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard, the infectious song chronicles the aftermath of a fun night out with friends, whilst perfectly showcasing the band’s “humour, relatability and their signature harmonies”.

Watch the official music video for ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’ below:

Made up of Charlotte, Holly and Lauren, Remember Monday are a group of best friends, who have earned a reputation for their “strong vocals and perfectly blended harmonies”.

Well-known for their social media viral hits in addition to their unique brand of uplifting pop, the trio have released two EPs and twelve singles with a focus on their epic three-way harmonies and clever, heartfelt and authentic songwriting.

On TikTok they trio have accumulated 11.3 million likes and more than half a million devoted followers, with audiences loving their expertly created, lighthearted acapella renditions of songs by a variety of singers, including Wicked, Sabrina Carpenter, Queen, and Shania Twain.

Friends since they met at sixth form in 2013, they are regulars on the music festival circuit, and last year played their first sellout tour across the UK. In addition, the girls each have individual impressive musical theatre backgrounds, and prior to their decision to quit their day jobs and become full time band members in 2023, they have appeared in musical theatre productions that include West End productions of Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera (Holly), Mary Poppins (Charlotte), and Matilda (Lauren), who also had a lead role in the nationwide tour of SIX The Musical.

The band confirmed their bid for Eurovision when they appeared as guests on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

In a joint statement the members of Remember Monday said of their Eurovision selection: “What The Hell Just Happened is exactly how we’re feeling right now! It’s all very surreal; our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this. When you’re a kid and people ask you what you want to be when you grow up, an absolute classic is “I wanna be a pop star”, so the fact that we’re getting the chance to live that dream as three best friends is just wild.”

“We’re going to be the first girlband to represent the UK since 1999, which feels like such a crazy honour. We’re going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won’t have seen before on the Eurovision stage… we honestly can’t wait to experience this with all of the other incredible artists from around the world, and hopefully make everyone back at home feel proud! This is really the music World Cup and we’ll do our best to bring it home!”

The 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Basel, Switzerland following Nemo’s victory at the Grand Final in May 2024 with their song ‘The Code’.

The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place in St. Jakobshalle, Basel, on Saturday 17 May with the Semi-Finals taking place on Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 May. The Grand Final and the Semi Finals will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer plus via BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
