On January 8th, 2019, The King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley was commemorated on what would have been his 84th birthday. Although the music icon passed away over 40 years ago, he continues to be one of the most popular and beloved figures not only in entertainment, but in the world at large.

    Elvis’ Life and Career

Born Elvis Aron Presley on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, the future rocker grew up on traditional country music, eventually merging the rockabilly style of his youth and early years with the rhythm and blues and rock that he picked up over the years from other artists, notably from the African-American communities around him. His passion for music only grew as he dabbled across several genres of music, and the future inductee in the Country Music Hall of Fame cultivated a sound that captivated young audiences of the day as they gravitated towards a sound and stage act that was unlike any they’d ever seen before. His earliest singles like ‘That’s All Right Mama’ and ‘Good Rockin’ Tonight’ garnered him national and international attention, but it was his foray into a deeper rock sound with the single ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ in 1956 that topped the charts and placed him at the forefront of the movement of the explosion of the sound.

Unlike many musicians that remained solely in the musical realm of the entertainment industry, Elvis’ career straddled the fence into movies as well, as he became a star of the silver screen upon the release of ‘Love Me Tender’ in 1956. A stint in the war took him away from his career in entertainment briefly, but by 1960, Presley was back as one of the leaders of the rock scene. Even from the beginning, Elvis was known for bending and breaking the rules, something that endeared him to young people as he challenged social norms at the time. For many, Presley’s incorporation of black music into his own unique vocal stylings were instrumental in bringing about a new era in social and civil rights in America and beyond.

    Remembering Elvis

Elvis Presley, for all of his power and energy on stage, met an untimely death at the age of 42 in 1977. Since then, millions of people each year have traveled to Graceland, the estate he bought in Memphis, to celebrate the singer and the legacy he left that has impacted the entire world. To this day, Presley is one of the few legends that remains as big in death as he did in life. Every year, there are new books and documentaries offering new perspectives on his life and the legacy he built over the years.

Elvis has an official Facebook page with more than 10 Million followers. His famous song “Can’t Help Falling In Love” has more than 140M views on Youtube. followed by “Burning Love” with 30M views.

Elvis even has a popular slot machine of his name and image played by thousands of players around the world. We found it in the Winstar Casino slots page, but this slot is adorning dozes of other online casinos around the world, proof that his unique style and swagger are never to be forgotten.

As the King of Rock is celebrated the world over, his legacy is a constant reminder of how influential he was in life as well as in death.
