Loud, proud and with a wardrobe selection to make Macklemore jealous, Georgia and her backing band The Vintage Youth have just released their latest single,the exuberant ‘Overthinker’.
A tale of what life is like right now for any twenty-something, ‘Overthinker’ is anything but a cry for help (which, let’s be honest, would be fair enough given the current climate). Instead, Georgia cleverly takes tongue-in-cheek lyrics and pairs them with an upbeat and colourful instrumentation, as provided by The Vintage Youth. The result is a song which revels in its honesty, takes no prisoners in its depiction of modern life, but ends up throwing a party and dancing on the burning ashes of the year 2020.
Georgia herself has a powerhouse of a voice which has been praised in the past by the queen of retro pop, Pixie Lott herself. The video sees Georgia attempting to fill the hours of quarantine with homely tasks – baking, cleaning (and a healthy amount of singing) – all in a variety of vintage get-ups which will make any viewers envious.
