Even though the American Idol Live Tour ended, that doesn’t mean you can’t be excited for season two.
On September 15th, 2018, in New Bedford, MA, the second to last American Idol Live show took place at the gorgeous Zeiterion Theatre.
The openers for the show were with the band, Forever in Your Mind, which consisted of Ricky Garcia, Emery Kelly and Liam Attridge. The guys put on an energy filled performance with their songs such as “Enough About Me,” “X Did” and they even performed a Disney Classic cover which included songs such as “Break Free”, from High School Musical and “This Is Me”, from Camp Rock. The band commanded the stage really well and even took time to meet fans after the show, proving why they are some of the nicest guys around. Make sure to follow them on social media @Officialfiym and stay tuned for their upcoming single, “Let Go,” available for pre-order starting October 8th.
After their amazing set, the time came for the main event, “dim the lights and here we go!” As the theme song played over the loudspeakers, the blue American Idol logo moved more and more radically, counting the seconds until the finalists were revealed.
The contestants came onto the stage performing “Meant to Be,” by Bebe Rexha. The poppy radio hit blended their voices together beautifully. This performance ensured the crowd that they were in for a treat with performances by Catie Turner, Michael J. Woodard, Cade Foehner, Gabby Barret, Caleb Lee Hutchinson and the winner Maddie Poppe.
The American Idol Live Tour had Nick Fradiani as the host. Originally Kris Allen was suppose to be the host; however, due to a family emergency, they had the Connecticut native and previous winner to host. Fradiani played some songs as well, such as his hit song “Beautiful Life,” which is a great song encouraging listeners to live life to its fullest.
The majority of the show was the contestants slaying covers such as the Bangles, “Walk Like an Egyptian, Camilla Cabello’s, “Havana” and even Katy Perry’s, “Part of Me,” which were stripped down to raw vocals and harmonies by Catie and Maddie.
A highlight moment was when Maddie and her boyfriend, Caleb, sang the classic song, “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor, which was also popularized from Pixar’s Toy Story franchise.
Overall, the show proved to be amazing and seeing the contestants perform live was even more fun!
