When the official track-list for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack was confirmed last month, it was as though the whole world came alive on social media. Fans from all over the globe joined together to celebrate how simply perfect the soundtrack sounded and with songs from Halsey, John Legend, Sia, and Zayn and Taylor Swift set to be released, it definitely deserved the hype that surrounded it.
But there was one particular song on the soundtrack which caught our attention. It was a song titled, “Bom Bidi Bom,” by Nick Jonas and Nicki Minaj. Admittedly we were a bit shocked when we spotted their names next to each other but it didn’t take us long to get our heads around to the idea of it and once we did, we knew that their collaboration would be absolute fire. Nick Jonas’ already sultry tone mixed with Nicki Minaj’s insanely good rapping skills was always going to be good, and to be honest we are surprised that it has taken them this long to collaborate!
“Bom Bidi Bom,” definitely lived up to our expectations… In fact, it totally exceeded our expectations! It took us approximately half a second to be completely enthralled by the song, and when it had ended we pressed the repeat button so many times that we almost broke it.
Right from Nicki Minaj’s, “uh-huh, yeah,” at the beginning of the track, it oozed sex appeal. Then we felt our hearts begin to speed up when Nick Jonas chimed in with a sexy, “yeah,” and just like that, it was our favourite song on the entire soundtrack. As a whole, the song gives off a super steamy vibe which definitely won’t look out of place in the Fifty Shades Darker movie. It pulls you in straight away and then when Nick’s smooth voice comes in on the first verse you know you will stay hooked until the very end.
The chorus is undeniably catchy and after replaying it a few hundred times, we can’t think of anyone who would suit it as well as Nick does. His voice just kind of, melts in to the chorus and it sounds like it was made just for him. One thing is for sure though, you only have to listen to it once for it to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day and you are totally lying if you say that it doesn’t make your foot tap along to the beat.
“You play the front, I’ll play the back, you’ll be the first, I’ll be the last…” Okay seriously, can someone help us to find our heart? It just exploded everywhere.
Nicki Minaj then cuts in to the song with the most perfect verse and partly because we don’t want to ruin it for anyone who hasn’t heard the track yet and also partly because it’s loaded with curse words and sexual references, the only line that we can mention here is, “I’m about to blow and I ain’t talkin’ Samsung,” which pretty much sums it all up.
Overall, we absolutely love, “Bom Bidi Bom,” and we couldn’t imagine the soundtrack without it. It’s perfect in every sense of the word and it has definitely left us wanting more collaborations from Nick Jonas and Nicki Minaj in the future. They sound amazing together and we are eternally grateful that they agreed to team up for this sexy song.
