Have you been watching Riverdale season two? If you have, then you saw Josie and the Pussycats sing Kelis’ “Milkshake” during episode two, as the characters host an event to save Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe. When we saw that episode, we said that they should release the song; low and behold, they have, and the full version is incredible.
Slowing it completely down, Ashleigh Murray, Asha Bromfield, Hayley Law & Madelaine Petsch bring a new and different version of the song. We only saw a few seconds of the performance during the episode, but The CW Television Network has treated us by releasing the full scene on their YouTube Channel.
Originally, the song was written by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. The full version of this cover, released by Warner Bros. Entertainment, lasts almost three minutes; whilst the performance below is only one and a half minutes long.

The scene sees Josie and the Pussycats performing the song on the top of Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe. Cheryl Blossom, played by Madelaine Petsch, filled in for Valerie Brown, played by Hayley Law, because she was ill – as Josie McCoy, played by Ashleigh Murray, explained during the episode. However, for the official release, all four singers were involved.
We absolutely adore this version of the song, they’ve slowed it right down, adding distinct harmonies, and a catchy backing track. They have also changed certain lyrics to keep the song clean.
The full version of the song is available to download and stream on all platforms. It is significantly longer. The girls manage to impress with vocal twists during the second verse. It’s so worth a listen at least.
