Last year it was announced that after 22 years, Virgin would no longer be sponsoring V Fest. Festival Republic confirmed that the much loved event would return under a different guise, and last night the new festival name and first wave of acts were confirmed.
The new RiZE Festival will take place on the 17th and 18th of August at Hylands Park, Chelmsford. Along with the name change, the biggest difference this year is that the festival will only be running across one park. In previous years, it has also been held at Weston Park, Staffordshire, across the same weekend.
Liam Gallagher will be headlining RiZE on Friday August 17. He will be joined by James Bay, Craig David Presents TS5, Plan B, Manic Street Preachers and Dave. Also performing on the Friday are Circa Waves, Disciples, Tom Grennan, Jacob Banks, MNEK and Sinead Harnett.
Welsh rockers Stereophonics are the Saturday headliners and will be joined by Bastille, Years & Years, Rag’N’Bone Man and Rita Ora. Also due to perform on the Saturday are Maximo Park, Example + DJ Wire, Tokio Myers, Lewis Capaldi, Tom Walker, The Manor, Raye and Nina Nesbitt.

Tickets go on sale at 9:30am this Friday (March 2nd) and will be available from the RiZE website. Day tickets start from £59.50 whilst weekend tickets are available from £115.
Many more acts will be added to the line up in due course.
