As they prepare to release an acoustic EP, British boyband RoadTrip knock US pop juggernaut Taylor Swift off the Number 1 spot.
Released for pre-order on Sunday, the stripped-back version of the Dynamite EP is set for release on September 9th, with title-track ‘Dynamite’ already available for iTunes download. Originally climbing to the second spot, tonight the EP goes one further. CelebMix went through the original EP track-by-track in June.
Not new to such heights, the five-piece managed the same feat in June as the original Dynamite collection soard to top spot. Hundreds of thousands of streams and an extensive U.K. tour later, Rye, Andy, Sonny, Jack and Brooklyn are ready to revamp the tracks.
Competing with the likes of Taylor Swift’s Lover, Liam Gallagher’s Why Me? Why Not, Lana Del Rey’s Norman F*****g Rockwell and The 1975’s Notes On a Conditional Form, fans have propelled the viral boyband to Number 1 less than 24 hours after pre-orders opened.
As well as ‘Dynamite’, acoustic covers of fan-favourite ‘Eternal’, the winking ‘The One That Got Away’, ballad ‘Flashing Lights’ and punching ‘Something About You’, are all included in the acoustic EP.
Not pausing to celebrate, RoadTrip also released their latest YouTube cover or Ariana Grande and Social House’s ‘boyfriend’ on Sunday. The latest in an extensive series of boyband spins on pop hits that includes 9 million viewed ‘Havana’ and last week’s two-part ‘Evolution of Justin Bieber’, the group’s presence online is a force to be reckoned with. Signed to Blair Dreelan’s Alphadog Management, alongside names of HRVY and Harper Dark, RoadTrip recently hit 1,000,000 YouTube subscribers.
