Robbie Williams has been announced as the third recipient of the prestigious BRITs Icon Award. He’ll follow in the footsteps of Sir Elton John and David Bowie. The Icon Award is presented to artists who have made a “lasting impact on British culture” and recognises the highest level of British musical achievement.
Reacting to the news, Robbie released the following statement:
It’s a real honour for me to be given this award and I can’t wait to play songs from my new album, and from my catalogue, at the Troxy on 7th November. The BRIT Awards are very special to me, and I’m humbled to be receiving the 18th of my career next month
To celebrate, Robbie will be playing a special show on November 7 at London’s Troxy. The show will feature the star’s greatest hits and some unique collaborations. It’ll also include material from his new album The Heavy Entertainment Show, which will be released on November 4th. There’ll also be an interview with the man himself as well as key figures and friends who influenced his life and career.
Tickets to the gala concert go on sale on Monday, October 10th, via Robbie’s website and the Troxy box office. The show will also be broadcasted in a 90-minute special on ITV later this year.
