When you think of the musical legend that is the one and only Rod Stewart and you make a list of all of the people he could collaborate with to create another hit song, we reckon that funky pop-rock band DNCE would place pretty far down on your list. But here we are in 2017 writing an article about how the two have teamed up to release a re-imagining of one of Stewart’s most iconic singles.

Yes, you did read that right. Rod Stewart has decided to join forces with the chart-topping foursome known as DNCE to release a re-imagining of his previous hit, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy,” which was first released back in 1978 and honestly, we’re internally screaming so hard right now. But in a good way. We loved the song the first time around but we are so excited to hear what new life the crazy four piece breathe into it when this latest version is released.

The original version of, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy,” was first released on Rod Stewart’s ninth studio album titled, “Blondes Have More Fun,” and upon it’s release, it instantly became a number one hit around the world. These days it is one of Stewart’s most famous singles and just in case you needed any more proof of how big it actually was and still is, Rolling Stone ranked it at #308 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time.

But the Joe Jonas fronted band DNCE also know a thing or two about creating a hit song. Their debut single, “Cake By The Ocean,” has made a huge splash all over the world since its release back in 2015 and we’re sure that it will be making an appearance on a list very similar to Rolling Stone’s in the years to come.

This unlikely but actually brilliant collaboration marks the start of a new partnership with Republic Records which DNCE are currently signed to, and the official single is expected to drop on 25th August. Needless to say, we are already on the countdown.

But if you can’t wait that long then fear not because not only did DNCE just post a snippet of the song on their Twitter account, but BBC Radio 2 just revealed that they will play it in full for the very first time during Sara Cox’s show on Thursday.

You will have to wake up at 8am to catch it but we think it will be so worth it!

Check out the funky preview of, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy,” right here:

Insert yet another overly-excited scream here.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Republic Records have just confirmed that DNCE and their new friend Rod Stewart will be giving an exclusive rooftop performance of, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy,” at the MTV Video Music Awards on 27th August.

They’re the gift that keeps on giving!

Just in case you couldn’t already tell, we are beyond excited about this new collaboration and we can’t wait to hear what it sounds like when it is performed live.
