CelebMix spent 4 days camping at Y Not Festival; a three day festival filled with tons of music – artists well known and upcoming – lots of food and friendly faces. While at Y Not Festival we were lucky enough to discover new artist, Ryan Farmer, and we really see good things for him.
In an attempt to replenish out thirst in the summer heat, we took to the Saloon Bar, a music venue at Y Not Festival, and grabbed a drink. As we were in the Saloon an upcoming musician, Ryan Farmer, took to the stage to perform his acoustic set.
Ryan Farmer is not your average “mainstream pop” artist. Ryan is a country-blues style singer who plays his guitar and uses his voice to take his audience on a new musical adventure to hear music that they would normally feel they couldn’t enjoy.
The acoustic set Ryan played summoned a lot of support from his crowd and his audience filled his stage space with dancing and smiling faces. It was incredibly heartwarming to see such a big audience within a small music venue given that Ryan is an upcoming, non-mainstream, music artist.
Ryan’s powerful vocal range and husky tone is a reminder of an old style, southern, country singer. He plays the guitar with no other backing, has written his own songs and performed them during his set. Performing his own songs gave him a more authentic vibe to the set and definitely pleased his audience. Ryan proves himself as an artist, with a lot of emotion in his vocals and lyrics – his easy listen songs has us swaying and tapping our feet to the music as he wowed with his guitar playing ability.
We honestly couldn’t think of a better venue for Ryan to have played with his western country/blues sound, in a swinging saloon door entry styled bar. We absolutely recommend that you keep an eye out for Ryan Farmer’s music. CelebMix can promise that you will not be disappointed.
