As the years go on, more women are taking over the superhero world whether it be leading roles in movies or leading roles in TV shows, and we’re absolutely loving all the girl power expanding in the DC and Marvel universes.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in need of a leading woman, as much as we love Iron Man, Captain America and all the others, and we’re about to get that. Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) is the newest character set to be joining the MCU and a probable leader for the next generation of superheroes.
At the San Diego Comic Con, fans were treated to a first look at her suit, which is staying very true to the design in the comics. Fans were also given a little information on what to expect from her upcoming solo movie.
Captain Marvel will be set in the 90’s, before any of the Avengers received their abilities. She will be facing off against the Skrulls, an alien race of shape-shifting green creatures, that in the comics had invaded and nearly took over Earth. They’re the kind of powerful threat that could require the Avengers’ help, however, regarding the time frame difference between the movies, it seems Carol Danvers will be facing this one all on her own and we are for this more than anything. Don’t ever underestimate the power of a woman!
Carol Danvers will be the most powerful superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe put on the big screen. She’ll have abilities well beyond what the Avengers have and will make them look obsolete with what she is able to do in comparison. She’ll prove just that when she fights these villains all by herself.
It’s a big deal for Marvel to bring out a leading female character. It’s better late than never and Wonder Woman has proven that not only can female leads break blockbusters, but they can also break records. Letting Captain Marvel stand on her own two feet in such a unique setting and a threat that could give the Marvel Heroes the fight of their lives, it’s safe to say that Marvel are definitely taking this one seriously and keeping her in for the long run.
