Selena Gomez is no Longer the Most Followed Person on Instagram

It’s a sad day for Selenators and fans of her on Instagram. Singer and actress Selena Gomez is no longer the most followed celebrity on Instagram. On Monday, October 29, Gomez was moved down to second when soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo, 33, gained more followers than her.

Gomez has held the title for two years now with over 144,000,000 followers. Ronaldo is followed by 144,320,476 while Gomez’s follower count is 144,312,745. The number keeps climbing.

The gain of followers from Ronaldo could also be due to the fact that Gomez is taking a break from social media, as she stated in this post on September 23rd. A little more than one month later, she lost the title of most followed.

After her break from social media, the “Wolves” singer entered a mental health treatment facility to help with her anxiety and depression after suffering from an emotional breakdown.

Gomez, 26, became the first person on Instagram to reach 100 million followers in September 2016. Because of the trolls and the drama that comes with them, Gomez is not the biggest fan of Instagram, so she’s probably not too upset about this.

Ronaldo made headlines this month when he was accused of rape in a lawsuit in Nevada. He was denied the allegations.

Just after Gomez in third place is the “God is a Woman” singer, Ariana Grande with 132 million followers. In fourth place is Kim Kardashian with 120 million.

The official Instagram page on Instagram takes the cake with 260 million followers.

We hope Selena gets better, takes care of herself, and returns to social media when she is ready to. Make sure to follow her so that when she returns to social media you will know what is going on with her.
