To say that the last few months have been tough for Selena Gomez would be a huge understatement, but we are so happy to see that she is starting to ease herself back into life in the public eye.

She has been inactive on all of her social media accounts since early August when she abruptly ended her Revival tour but she returned to Instagram yesterday to share a sweet Thanksgiving inspired post with her 103 million followers… And no, we didn’t make that number up. She really does have that many followers. Can we have that many followers please?!

On Turkey Day (24th November), she shared this picture which has already racked up a very respectable 2.7 million likes:

But it was the caption that she wrote alongside it which really melted our hearts. She spoke honestly, writing, “I have a lot to be thankful for this year. My year has been the hardest yet most rewarding one yet. I’ve finally fought the fight of not ‘being enough’…”

And cue us screaming, “you are enough, Selena!” at our phone screens.

The singer and actress was forced to take a break from the spotlight back in August when she cancelled the remainder of the dates on her Revival tour. At first, she simply cited, “personal issues,” as the reason behind the cancellation but then more details emerged and Selena released an official statement a few hours later. She claimed that she had been suffering from anxiety and depression which had been bought on by her Lupus diagnosis.

As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have Lupus which is an illness that can affect people in many different ways. I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks, and depression can also be side effects of Lupus, which present their own challenges. I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and therefore I have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all of my fans for their support. You know how special you are to me but I need to face this head on to ensure that I am doing everything possible to be at my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this and I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues too.

After taking a couple of months off to rehabilitate, it appears that Selena is now ready to make her big comeback to the spotlight which we will take as a positive sign that she is feeling much better.

She recently stepped out in public for the first time since her tour cancellation for the American Music Awards where she won the award for Best Pop/Rock Female and upon accepting her award, the brunette starlet gave the following speech.

In 2014, this stage was the first time that I was authentically one-hundred percent honest with all of you. I think it’s safe to say that most of you know a lot about my life but I had to stop. I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside… I kept it together enough to where I would never let you all down but I kept it together too much to where I let myself down. I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram, I want to see what is in your hearts. I’m not trying to get validation… All I can say from the bottom of my heart is that I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every day with people that I love. I want to thank my fans because you are so damn loyal and I don’t know what I did to deserve you, but know that if you are broken you do not have to stay broken. If there’s one thing you should know about me, whether you respect me or not, it’s that I care about people and I thank you all so much.

Selena’s journey has definitely touched and inspired a lot of people all around the world and all of us here at CelebMix would like to say that we are completely behind her in her search for health and happiness. We hope that her return to Instagram is proof that she is a little closer to finding what she is looking for but even if she isn’t, we will be with her every step of the way.

    Welcome back, Selena!
