The day has finally come for us to listen to the brand new song by Selena Gomez!
After teasing the release of the single on her Instagram account for the last couple of days, she has officially dropped the track today and we could not be any happier about it.
Titled “It Ain’t Me”, the song is a feature with the well-known and highly successful Norwegian DJ, Kygo. The collaboration between the two is somewhat different to what the two artists are usually used to.
“It Ain’t Me” starts off very acoustic. At the beginning, Selena’s voice is accompanied only by a guitar while talking about her dream that she was sipping whiskey neat. The lyrics then follow the singer-songwriter going through the fallout of her relationship, always climaxing in the chorus lines “who’s going to the walk you through the dark side of the morning/It ain’t me”. A tropical house beat underlines the chorus whereas the verses remain simple. The beautiful thing about this set-up is the fact that Selena’s voice gets a wonderful amount of time to shine bright. She sounds refreshed, renewed, ready to show the world that she is back.
While the lyrical content may sound a bit sad, the song itself is still catchy. Thanks to Kygo’s production, “It Ain’t Me” seamlessly blends all of the different aspects into each other without making one of the seem out of place.

“It Ain’t Me” arrives as the possible lead single for Kygo’s second studio album. It is also rumored that is comes as the lead single for Selena’s third studio album, but those have not been confirmed yet. Kygo, Selena and some of the songwriters behind Justin Bieber’s “Let Me Love You” have written the lyrics. So it is only natural that the song turns out to be a bop!
