SG Lewis and Ruel glisten on ‘Flames’ collaboration

SG Lewis continues his three-part journey through a night out, roping in Australian wonderkid, Ruel, for lastest single ‘Flames’.

For over a year now, SG Lewis has been taking fans with him on a bubbling electronica night out from Dusk to Dark and now, to Dawn. The three-part debut concept album has been at the forefront of the producer’s rise to becoming one of the genre’s hottest names and today’s Ruel collaboration might even be his most impressive to date.

‘Flames’ arrives as the third single from Dawn, following introductory ‘Blue’ and “electro-pop lullaby” ‘Throwaway’ with Clairo. A certified summer hit, sounding like it’s come straight from the planes of a late night Coachella (where it was debuted last month), ‘Flames’ arrives at a perfect time.

Despite the two being relatively fresh names on the scene, it’s been a collaboration a long time coming. “I was put onto Ruel’s music about 18 months ago, and watching his growth since then has been amazing. He’s got such soul to his voice for someone of his age, it’s crazy.”

An artist familiar to CelebMix too, we were blown away by the 16-year-old’s vocals in Paris last year and have been loving his latest single ‘Painkiller‘ too. Following in the footsteps of artists such as Raye, Ray BLK and JP Cooper in teaming up with SG Lewis, whose high-billing at Coachella last month was the latest monumental moment in a rise that GQ labelled as an “electro artist about to blow up” in December last year.

Now, with Dawn about to drop in full and a mammoth September and October USA tour on the horizon, SG Lewis prepares to take his debut record on the road in full. Looking ahead, this week’s announcement of the producer’s biggest headline show to date at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on the 1st February 2020 looks to cement his name at the top of the game. Tickets are on sale now, buy here.
