Shania Twain is the most successful female country music artist of all time – selling over 80 million records worldwide and selling out arenas across the globe. The Canadian songstress is an icon in every sense of the word.
Last year after a 15-year hiatus due to voice problems caused by Lyme’s disease that saw her unable to sing for over a decade, she made a triumphant return to the charts with her massive number 1 comeback album ‘Now‘.
The record is Twain’s most honest body of work to date, and features no co-writers meaning it comes straight from the heart of the country-pop superstar. Along with releasing her first studio album in fifteen years, the singer also announced a worldwide tour which will kick-off in North America this May and take in cities all across the world before ending in New Zealand in December.
Tickets for the shows are on sale now, and will also see Shania performing her first tour in the UK since 2004.
And now it has been confirmed that in the midst of her mammoth world tour, Shania Twain will also host the Canadian Country Music Awards in her native home of Canada on September 9th. But that’s not all, along with hosting the glittering ceremony, the hit singer will also be awarded the prestigious Generation Award in honour of her contributions to country music.
Speaking about the awards, Twain said: “It’s such a pivotal moment in country music as the industry evolves we’re seeing a new generation of deeply talented artists emerge and I look forward to being a part of the celebration of them and also celebrating some of the trailblazers before them,”
