    Shania Twain Honoured With Billboard’s ‘Icon Award’

    Fresh from receiving the prestigious ‘CMT Artist of Lifetime’ award, Shania Twain has been announced as this years ‘Billboard Icon’.

    The legendary country music singer will be honoured with the special recognition gong at this years Billboard’s Women in Music ceremony.

    Canadian superstar Shania Twain who is the biggest selling female in country music will receive the 2016 Women in Music ‘Icon’ award, which celebrates an artists historic contribution to the music industry.

    Speaking about Twain’s award, president and chief creative officer of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group, Janice Min, said:“Shania Twain is a groundbreaking artist whose successful country-pop crossover blazed the trail for a new generation of country stars like Taylor Swift, Billboard’s 2014 Woman of the Year, and Carrie Underwood. She’s fearless in her career, following her own path and pushing the boundaries of the country music genre as she creates music that has proven to be timeless. She is revered in the industry and we are honoured to present the Icon award to her.”  

    The news of Shania Twain’s latest honour comes after she confirmed her new album will be her most “diverse”

    The 11th annual Women in Music event will take place on December 9th in New York City. And will air nationally on December 12th on Lifetime. The star-studded awards ceremony is held in conjunction with the publication of Billboard’s Women in Music list, which identifies the 50 most powerful and influential female executives in the industry each year.
