From the set of Abbott Elementary, recent Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph encourages the transgender cast of the new forthcoming series, Stiletto.
One advantage of the modern technological world is that celebrities are much more participatory and socially in tune compared to Hollywood’s studio system of yesteryear. Now, thanks to the wonders of technology, Sheryl Lee Ralph was able to become aware of an amazing new transgender-based production.
So, what is Stiletto? The biographical series follows the real lives of trans-identified people who were depicted in the cult hit documentaries, Paris Is Burning and Mirror, Mirror. Stiletto will transport the viewer into the private and harrowing lives of many real-life transgender Americans, such as Venus Xtravaganza, who was found murdered while she was filming Paris Is Burning.
“I heard that you’ve got a wonderful new pilot that you’ve all just shot. And most of you are all first-time actors acting in an all-trans production! I mean, that is amazing. God bless you.” This was the opening of “motha’s” motivational video message.
In a clip shared on Instagram by Creative Producer Sadaisha Shimmers, the Abbott Elementary star took time to encourage an excited new crop of actors. “Just know that it would be great if it happens overnight. But it doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes it takes time. And be comfortable with the time it takes, especially if it means getting it right.”
With such wholehearted warm wisdom, the original Dreamgirl went on to say this: “I just want to encourage all of you to keep your hopes as high as your heels. And since you are the Stiletto cast, I know those are some high heels. So, walk on, carry on, and know that I just appreciate you all getting it done. All-trans production, do that! Why should there be one, should be more.”
Brava to you, Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph. Speak the truth and save the children. You can watch Abbott Elementary on ABC and most popular streaming services.
