She’s Kinda Hot goes #1 in more than 40 countries

We are the kings and the queens of the new broken scene

Oh god where do I start…

Okay, so, for starters – the title is the biggest misnomer ever. She’s Kinda Hot is supposed to seem like a continuation to She Looks So Perfect, but the song has nothing to do with a girl. It’s basically just a huge “revolution for outcasts – it says we don’t give a f*ck what you think we’re gonna be who we are” in Calum’s words. The underlying message is that regardless of what happens and what people think, we’ll be alright.

This is also a big deal for the image of 5 Seconds of Summer. All of us in the 5SOSFam know that the boys are punk rock, but not many other people understand that, especially those who associate 5SOS with One Direction. But in this song, it’s clear to see the influences of bands that these guys grew up with, like Good Charlotte, Green Day and Sublime. The Madden Brothers of Good Charlotte also helped to write She’s Kinda Hot. This song clearly has those influences but also has the personal 5SOS twist on it, which is exactly what makes them so popular – the song, having been released less than 8 hours ago, is already #1 in more than 40 countries worldwide. The song has officially made 5SOS’s genre “rock band” under Google searches, as well as giving the band a very unique achievement – having the fastest song to ever go #1 in the U.S.A without any pre-order.
