The Band Perry’s new empowering anthem, ‘Comeback Kid’, is a must hear due to it’s folk-pop nature. Still carrying a subtle hint of country influence, the band prove they are capable of serving a pop plateau without heading into cheesy lyric territory.
Filled with a heart-warming chorus, and a brightly moving production (strings and all), the Perry’s play to their advantage and come out winning. Check out the chorus lyrics below:
Cause I’m a comeback, I’m a comeback kid
Don’t know why bad things happened, but they did
I don’t think I deserve the hurt I get, but I’m made for it
It’s not the end, no, it’s not the end
I’m a comeback kid
Down for a minute; I’ll get up again
Looks like I’m breaking, but it’s just a bend; it’s not over yet
Cause in the end
I’m a comeback, I’m a comeback kid
Fairly reminiscent of past songs such as Rachel Platten’s ‘Fight Song’ & Duff’s ‘All About You’, The Band Perry hit the nail right on the head with a pop empowering ballad that’s surely ready for mainstream radio.
It’s extremely relatable lyricism goes beyond the realms of bullying and more into the annoying rashes that life continuously throws at us. The song allows the listener to create their own moments and that alone creates an individual story. Point blank, it’s a universal approach.
