Haley Reinhart is back with an incredible cover of the sixties smash “Baby It’s You”. The song was originally recorded by The Shirelles back in 1961 and is the first to be released from Haley’s upcoming album What’s That Sound. The album will be her third since her debut Free in 2012 and will consist of fourteen songs. Eleven of these will be covers of hits from the sixties, whilst the other three will be original tracks.
Haley rose to fame after finishing third on the tenth season of American Idol back in 2011. Throughout her time on the show, she brought a jazzy, blues element to her song choices, mixed in with some rock and roll. She also gave many standout performances during the show. These include her versions of “Bennie and the Jets” and “The House of The Rising Sun” and she went on to become a fan favourite.
Haley’s latest single “Baby It’s You” is a perfect choice of song for the singer to cover with its soulful sound. She blows us away with her stunning vocals which get stronger and stronger throughout the song. Haley glides effortlessly from the softer parts of the song to the parts where she lets go and puts absolutely everything into it. She breathes life into this song, and makes it pure magic to listen to.
In addition to this, the choice of song introduces the genre and the iconic sound from the sixties to an entirely new generation. There is a real gap in the market for jazz and blues influenced music at the moment. With the simply outstanding vocal ability she has, Haley really could be the one to fill this.
Haley also dropped the video to her latest single earlier today.
