Single Review: Little Mix’s ‘Hair’ Ft. Sean Paul Is A Superior Urban Inspired Anthem

Little Mix have released their FOURTH single ‘Hair’ (featuring Sean Paul) and the world has gone absolutely mad for it. If you don’t know what we mean by that, you might want to check out the iTunes charts right now. The song is doing insanely well!

It’s already notched the #1 spot in Argentina and according to the online global rankings list the single will probably end up going #1 in numerous other countries as well such as the U.K., Brazil, etc.

The new single offers a different side of Little Mix – while it’s a song that would have fit perfectly with their second R&B inspired album, Salute, the mixing of reggae and dance hall is extremely evident here.

With that being said, it all works for the quartet and the Grammy award winning artist Sean Paul. The song starts off with Sean Paul carrying his signature sound, followed suit by Leigh-Anne, Perrie, Jesy then Jade. We then get to the extremely rememberable portion – the mighty chorus.

Filled with a chant-like banging chorus, Little Mix take to advantage their bright charismatic voices and go all out. Even when they are not blending in harmonies, their unison is right on the money! It goes to show how talented the group are, considering how beautifully different each member has a distinctive voice.

Lyrically, the song can be interpreted in many ways. Overall the songs meaning fits well with the girl power theme of “sticking up and being there for women” and letting go of the fraudulent past. And of course, a perhaps failed relationship where the guy just so happens to be a huge “dick”.

In fact, the music video as confirmed by MTV News has that failed relationship theme! As quoted by Jade, “Basically someone cheats on our lovely Leigh-Anne and she needs help from our girls to get over him, so she gives us a call and we pop round the house and have a wail of a time!”

You can buy ‘Hair’ by Little Mix featuring Sean Paul by heading to iTunes today! You also have the option of streaming via Spotify!
