The Script have deprived their fans of their fantastic music for three years since their 2014 album No Sound Without Silence.
The Irish band have relentlessly teased us for the past few days but now they have finally released a new single called ‘Rain’.
‘Rain’ is the first single from their imminent fifth LP but its title has not been revealed nor has its release date.
Surprisingly, ‘Rain’ was one of the last songs to be added to the album, according to The Script and it is their summer song.
“After a very long process of making Album 5, the song ‘Rain’ came right at the end.”
“It’s a summer song so we thought, only The Script can make it Rain in summer.” The band said.
‘Rain’ is very different to anything they have released before but it still sounds fantastic and exciting.
Lead singer Danny O’Donoghue opens up the track with his piano, singing about the comparison of the absence of a lover to acid rain.
Cause baby, when you’re gone / all it does is rain, rain, rain down on me / each drop is pain, pain, pain when you leave.
Heavy guitar chords kick in and it is a stark contrast to the melancholy sorrow the song and video is portraying.
It gives you the feeling of being at a chilled party as more and more instruments are added as the song builds.
The juxtaposition of the music and message of both the song and video work well to The Script’s advantage.
They’re known for releasing heart-breaking songs that make you want to sing into your hairbrush.
This new single is no different as it is catchy and definitely one to sing along and dance your troubles away to.
The music video is beautiful as well as it showcases the gloom of the song via its dark sultry lighting of a club.
They have promised more music is on the way and have thanked fans for their patience during last night’s Facebook livestream.
It is so exciting to see the Irish band back and making music once again because we have missed them desperately.
