This year’s Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day will take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows, NY on Saturday August 26 (9:30am – 4pm). The festival of tennis, music and fun will honour the legacy of pioneer Arthur Ashe whilst also marking the start of the 2017 US Open. Tennis stars including two-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic will also be in attendance.
During the festival, we will also see the official launch of Net Generation. The project aims to inspire the next generation of tennis players by embracing all aspects of youth play, providing a safe connection to the sport for kids aged 5-18 whilst allowing them to celebrate their individuality.
Between 9:30am and 12:30pm, kids will be able to try out Net Generation tennis whilst also enjoying some live music and family friendly activities. The ticketed Stadium show will take place between 1pm and 3pm, with tickets available now through Ticketmaster, US Open and at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center box office. General admission promenade tickets cost $10 whilst loge tickets are $25.
Speaking about the event, Gordon Smith, USTA Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer said: “Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day is a fantastic way to pay tribute to Arthur Ashe. We’re thrilled to launch Net Generation–the largest youth initiative in the sports history–at this incredible event.”
