Songs That Can Help You With Your Anxiety

One year ago today, Shawn Mendes released the Grammy-nominated song, “In My Blood.” When the song first came out, Mendes talked about the meaning behind it and how it chronicled his anxiety, depression, etc. It was met with great reviews from critics and fans and has helped many people understand their struggles with anxiety and mental health issues.

This song is not the first to talk about a singer’s struggles with anxiety and it won’t be the last. So if you are feeling alone or anxious or like no one understands you, listen to these songs and know you are not alone, know that other people go through this.

Here are those songs:

“Voices in My Head” – Ashley Tisdale

When Ashley Tisdale made her comeback in 2018, fans were ecstatic. For her third studio album, Symptoms, Tisdale did not hold back and described her struggles with anxiety.

“Love Me and Let Me Go” – Ashley Tisdale

The second single released by Tisdale also stems from her mental health issues. The video shows what living with anxiety is like and what she goes through.

“Head Above Water” – Avril Lavigne

Lavigne also made her comeback in 2018 after her long battle with Lymes Disease. “Head Above Water” shows the strength she had during that battle and how she turned to God to get her through it.

“Head High” – Alexander Jean

The power duo, comprised of Mark Ballas and BC Jean, delivered a powerful performance with ‘Head High,’ which gives people the strength to not give up.

“By the Grace of God” – Katy Perry

Most people know that when Perry released her album, Prism, she just got over a rough divorce from Russell Brand. This song told the story of Perry’s depression and how she picked herself back up after a hard time in her life.

“1-800-273-8255” – Logic feat. Alessia Cara

The phone number in the title is the suicide hotline. It encourages people to call the number if they are contemplating suicide or have suicidal thoughts. There is always help.

“Breathin” – Ariana Grande

A single from Ariana Grande’s album, “Sweetener,” this song gives people the strength to carry on and breathe through the tough times.

“Sober” – Demi Lovato

The singer has struggled with staying sober throughout her life. “Sober” is her apology and her cry for help. Very powerful song.

“Fix You” – Coldplay

This song reassures those struggling that there is someone there for them. While they may not necessarily fix them, they can fix that moment when they are feeling down.

“Demons” – Imagine Dragons

This song will help you understand the demons inside you. It shows that anyone can be struggling and some people may not want to express it but it is helpful to talk about it.

“Safe and Sound” – Taylor Swift

The Grammy-nominated song from the ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack may not be the first song you think of when you think anxiety or mental health, but if you listen to the words, you will know exactly why this song is on the list

“Praying” – Kesha

Kesha spoke up about the abuse she received from Dr. Luke, her previous record producer. “Praying” shows forgiveness and freedom from being trapped. The Grammy-nominated song sparked Kesha’s comeback and showed how she overcame the hardest time in her life.
