The first official poster for Paramount’s forthcoming ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ film has been unveiled.

The iconic Sega Mega Drive video game character is coming to the big screen in a semi-live-action adventure next year and todays big reveal has sent fans WILD as they get their first glimpse of what the blue super-speedster will look like in the movie.

A silhouette of Sonic shows him drawn in a more realistic light compared to his console counterpart, with muscular legs, powerful arms and a more human-like physique, though we don’t get a clear look of his face.

At the helm of the new ‘Sonic’ movie will be first-time feature director Jeff Fowler, best known for the 2005 Oscar-nominated short ‘Gopher Broke’.

Neal H. Moritz is producing the CGI animation under his Original Film banner, while ‘Deadpool’ director Tim Miller will serve as executive producer alongside Toby Ascher.

Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will co-produce.

The story will see small-town sheriff Tom Wachowski journey to San Francisco to assist Sonic, in his battle against the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Ben Schwartz is voicing Sonic in the project, with Jim Carrey on-board as Dr. Robotnik and James Marsden playing Tom Wachowski.

Sonic The Hedgehog made his video game debut on the 16-bit Sega Mega Drive console back in 1991.

The character has gone on to appear in a host of sequels and spin-off games as well as featuring in titles released for Nintendo systems and other consoles, once Sega had stopped making consoles.

Sonic has previously appeared in a number of animated series including 1993’s ‘Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog’ and cameos in Disney’s 2012 animation ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ and 2018 sequel ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’.

The ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ movie is scheduled to be released in November 2019.
