‘Love Is You’ is the first single to be taken from Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Orchestral Greatest Hits album titled, ‘The Song Diaries’

‘Love Is You’ is a re-worked cover of the sampled disco track taken from Spiller’s 2000 hit single, ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’, which features vocals from Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The single became an instant hit single for both Spiller and Ellis-Bextor, topping the charts in the UK. It also introduced the UK to its next female pop star about to take the music industry by storm.

Ellis-Bextor signed to Polydor and began work on her debut album which was later revealed as, ‘Read My Lips’. The album debuted at number two in the UK Album Charts and spawned four top-twenty hit singles including, ‘Murder on The Dancefloor’ and ‘Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me)’. The latter being Ellis-Bextor’s take on Cher’s ‘Take Me Home’.

Since her debut album, Ellis-Bextor has consistently released disco hit after disco hit however that is now on her own terms. Her 2014 album, ‘Wanderlust’ was her first album to be released independently and it’s been that way ever since.

In 2016, we received the sixth studio album from Ellis-Bextor, ‘Familia’ which features the singles, ‘Come With Us’ and ‘Crystalise’.

With a catalogue of hits, it seems right for Sophie Ellis-Bextor to release a Greatest Hits album and that’s exactly what she’s doing. Commencing with ‘Love Is You’, the album is expected to consist of some of Ellis-Bextor’s best musical work however with an orchestral twist.

Full details on ‘The Song Diaries’ is still quite alien to us at the moment however we do know it will be released in Autumn 2018. It will also feature the lead single, ‘Love Is You’.

You can pre-order ‘The Song Diaries’ in various bundles, both digital and physical here.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s re-worked hit single, ‘Love Is You’ is available to purchase/stream here.
