Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner is definitely no stranger to covering magazines and answering everyone’s questions about her life when the cameras stop rolling, but her recent photoshoot and chat with In Style magazine might just be her most in depth one yet.
Although her on-screen character Sansa Stark is a heroine who has survived everything from arranged marriages to ghastly murders, Sophie Turner’s real life is actually very chilled. She told In Style that unlike her alter-ego, she loves nothing more than lounging around in tomboyish and easy-to-wear outfits. When asked about her favourite designer for every day wear, Sophie revealed, “I like Opening Ceremony and a lot of men’s shirts and hoodies. I think it is way cooler to be effortless.”
Sophie also told the magazine that she takes a surprisingly laid-back approach to her daily make-up routine. “I’m not talented with my face,” she admitted, “I can’t figure it out but in a job where you’re constantly wearing make-up and having your hair done, I think it’s nice to be plain and free.”
HBO’s Game of Thrones can quite often be a blood-bath, but there is definitely no bad blood between Sophie and her on-screen sister Arya Stark who is played by, “bae,” Maisie Williams. The young actresses have both gushed about their admiration for each other in the past with each crediting the other for their sanity throughout their rising success, but Sophie opened up more about their friendship for In Style. She confessed that, “To have someone who understands what you’re going through, who is the same age and who came from pretty much the same background, it’s so rare. We’ve had the same struggles in terms of dealing with body image and puberty and just growing up in the public eye. I found my strength in her and she found her strength in me.”
Another person who Sophie holds close to her heart is her current beau, musician Joe Jonas. Now, it’s not at all surprising that the actress wants to keep her cards pretty close to her chest when it comes to her private life but she did reveal a couple of things to In Style magazine which made us melt into a puddle of mush. She said that it is a lot easier to date someone who is also in the spotlight because, “You realise that you’re not going to see each other all the time and you don’t feel like a jerk when you’re like, ‘my publicist says I can’t do this…’”
Sophie also used her interview with In Style magazine to reveal a pretty big secret about her luscious locks. And, wait for it… She exclusively told the publication that her natural hair colour is actually blonde. Gasp! Sophie regularly dyes her blonde hair in order to fit novelist George R. R. Martin’s description of her Game of Thrones character. We just feel so cheated right now, okay?!
But whether her hair is auburn or whether it is blonde, there can be no doubt that Sophie is living life to the fullest right now. As well as reprising her role on the new season of Game of Thrones which will kick off on 16th July, she has also been busy filming roles for several upcoming films so make sure that you keep an eye out for those!
