This season’s kicks have gone that extra mile for Spring Summer ‘15. Look magazine have summed up the latest eleven…eleven I know, SS/15 shoe trends and they’re wild.
Up first, metallic shades: Rose Gold is making a statement in all different ways. Try a sling back sandal either flat or heeled, or a smart pointy brogue to brighten up that dreary effortless suit. Why not try a polished loafer under your new khaki culottes, this may seem like a colour-imploded disaster but in fact you’re creating your very own colour contrast ready for action. Another Rose Gold favourite is the pointy snakeskin court; wear with a little black dress (LBD) and matching clutch. There isn’t a lot Rose Gold doesn’t go with so go crazy.
The next style is one of my personal favourites: the two-strapped Mule is making a comeback. After appearing on many Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe, these combos have appeared in many SS15 catwalk shows including Marques Almedia, who took a hit on white wedged mules. These shoes can be worn with pretty much any combination; pair of suit trousers or tailored jumpsuit for a smart look, or a summer day dress for a brighter look. As long as you keep the two-strapped style going, you’re already there.
The following style is BIG on Bejewelled. The ‘Bejewelled Beauty’ as LOOK magazine refers to them; this style is new and although we have been hot on oversized necklaces and chandelier shaped earrings this past season, these shoes are on another level. After only making a small appearance on the latest catwalk shows it’s hard to understand what the makings of this shoe will be, however there are clear DO’S + DON’TS that justify was it acceptable, and what isn’t the greatest of mixtures. For starters, wear bejewelled shoes with casual clothes, jeans and an off-duty jacket that way the statement piece becomes that much more of an element of surprise. Next, as I said before the accessory jewels must stay at home; in the very bundle you untangle them from each morning- stay dainty with the details. Although this seems very restricting, the DONTS are rather vague; DONT be deceived with what these can do to an outfit. Don’t save these beauties until after dark, people will not fully appreciate what they can do. After all, shoes are made for walking so show them off.
Now, from one extreme to the other, the Cute Candy Courts have always been moping around, they work wonders with a summer evening dress and by the looks of Moschino S/S15 Catwalk shows, it is clear to see that they are loving it too. Thanks to Moschino designer Jeremy Scott we will be seeing many a pink shoe this season, from courts to cowboy boots everyone is wearing them. Girly girls Lilly Allen and Katy Perry have been papped wearing the designer- will you be bringing out your inner plastic-princess with bubble-gum face shimmers?
All different coloured courts can be worn with a mixture of things; try ankle socks, frilly or thin, white or pink, if you’re feeling brave then take a risk but for the more preserved of us stick with white. Wear them under summer dresses or oversized shirts. Either way, these pumps will brighten up any outfit, no matter how dull.
