Steven Soderbergh took a break from feature films three years ago but now, he is back with a new project in the pipeline.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources reveal that Soderbergh is planning to team up with Channing Tatum for his new venture.
Steven Soderberg has worked with Channing Tatum on various projects including Magic Mike and Side Effects. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter,
“The project is circulating to studios and is described as being in the vein of Ocean’s 11, the all-star caper movie Soderbergh directed in 2001, but with hillbillies. The plot revolves around a heist during a NASCAR-syle race.”
It has been confirmed that Glen Basner’s FilmNation is handling foreign sales.
But it’s still to be seen whether Soderbergh will be directing or producing the film.
A report surfaced on Wednesday stating that Matt Damon would star in the movie but Soderbergh himself put an end to all these rumours after he tweeted under his Twitter handle @Bitchuation.
“Rest assured,” he tweeted, “all will be revealed when I give my exclusive, no-holds-barred interview with CATSTER magazine. You think I’m kidding.” He added, “To be clear: Facts are SO twentieth century…”
Steven Soderbergh is an American film producer, director, screenwriter and cinematographer. He has directed 2013 HBO movie Behind the Candelabra and the TV series The Knick and has also served as a cinematographer for Magic Mike XXL.
