Stranger Things creators, Matt and Ross Duffer have revealed that they are looking to end the Netflix hit series after its fourth season. In February, the Duffer brothers said that they were looking for Stranger Things as a whole to have up to four or five seasons, however, this is most likely to change, as the brothers are finding coming up with ideas more of a challenge each time.
“We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out.”
Previously, the brothers have said that they want to follow Harry Potter, where we see the children grow up over the years, but with the Stranger Things kids all hitting their early/mid teens, the show is having no choice but to skip a year ahead each time and the plausibility of something happening to the kids each year is proving to be more challenging than the brothers had hoped for.
“We just have to keep adjusting the story,” Matt said. “Though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”
Whilst this is all very sad news, we still have season two to look forward too as that will be hitting Netflix on October 27th and a season three has officially been confirmed! If the news of the show finishing at season four is also anything to go by, it must mean that a season four is also in the works, so we won’t be saying goodbye any time soon!
Stranger Things season two synopsis:
It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.
Stranger Things 2 will star Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Noah Schnapp. the series has also added Paul Reiser (Aliens), Brett Gelman (Jobs), Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers), Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen, and Broadway star Sadie Sink.
