For this week’s quarter finals, Strictly Come Dancing took a trip to the musicals! Some show stopping performances were presented!
This week we saw Jay McGuiness with partner Aliona Vilani fly to the top of the leader board with their highly emotive Rumba to the song “Falling Slowly” from the musical ‘Once’. Judge Darcey commented, “You brought tears to my eyes”, Craig even gave them advice for the final! The judges showed their love by giving them a total of 39.
In joint second place both with a grand score 36 points all made up of 9’s were Georgia May Foote with partner Giovanni Pernice along with Kellie Bright and partner Kevin Clifton.
Georgia and Giovanni danced a very beautifully entrancing Foxtrot to “Tale As Old As Time” from ‘Beauty and The Beast’. Kellie and Kevin danced a very energetic and lively Viennese Waltz, it was branded as being ‘divine’, by judge Darcey!
Third place was awarded to Katie Derham and partner Anton Du Beke, they danced a great Foxtrot to the song “Maybe This Time” from ‘Cabaret’. They got themselves a grand 35 from the judges.
The lovely Helen George along with her partner Aljaž Škorjanec danced a very electrifying and entrancing Paso Doble to the song “At The End Of The Day” from ‘Les Misérables’. They got a respectable score of 34, which is still a great score! Judge Len commented, “You were living that, I loved it!”.
Finally, last place on this weeks leader board was Anita Rani and her partner Gleb Savchenko. They danced an Argentine Tango to Chicago’s “Cell Block Tango”. Despite Craig awarding them just 6 points, Len awarded them 9 saying they did “Spectacularly well”, I very much agree! They gained a great score of 31.
Sunday night was results night, as usual we were treated to a delight from the pro dancers, this week they were joined by the West End cast of ‘The Lion King’, what a great performance it was.
The two couples with the lowest votes this week was very shocking indeed. The dance off was between, Helen and Aljaž, along with Georgia and Giovanni.
This result shocked many people as they are known to be well liked in the competition. Both danced their best to fight for a place in the semi finals. You could easily tell the judges didn’t want to choose who had to come home.
Very sadly and shockingly, the wonderful Helen George and incredible Aljaž Škorjanec had to take their final bow. This truly was a shock and they will be missed by everyone.
