    Suki Waterhouse announces details of new double album ‘Memoir of a Sparklemuffin’

    London-born actress and singer-songwriter Suki Waterhouse has announced details of her upcoming second LP ‘Memoir of a Sparklemuffin’.

    Made up of 18 tracks, the double-album will be released internationally via Sub Pop on Friday, September 13th 2024.

    With another three months to go until the records release, Suki today shares the projects latest single ‘Supersad’ – a dreamy, fast-paced, guitar driven pop bop, that serves as the follow up to previous releases ‘My Fun’ and ‘Faded’.

    “I tried to write a 90s song you could hear playing at the mall in Clueless or as an opening track for Legally Blonde,” Waterhouse says of the track, which is produced by Brad Cook and the album’s Executive Producer Eli Hirsch, and written by Suki along with Chelsea Balan, John Mark Nelson, and Lilian Caputo.

    Serving as the follow up to 2022’s “I Can’t Let Go”, Waterhouse’s second studio album sees her team up with producers and collaborators including Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, Father John Misty, Beyonce), Cook (Bon Iver, War on Drugs, Snail Mail), Greg Gonzalez (Cigarettes After Sex), Rick Nowels (James Blake, Lana del Rey), and Natalie Findlay and Jules Apollinaire of the band Ttrruuces (with whom she co-wrote ‘Good Looking’ and ‘OMG’).

    According to a press release, Suki loosely tethers the records 18-tracks to a transformative central concept represented by the Sparklemuffin spider. 

    “I came across the Sparklemuffin – which is wildly coloured, does this razzle-dazzle dance, and its mate will cannibalise it if she doesn’t approve of the dance,” Waterhouse explains. “It’s a metaphor for the dance of life we’re all in. The title felt hilarious, ridiculous, and wonderful to me.”
