Approximately 36.7 million people worldwide are currently living with HIV/AIDS and over 1.8 million of those are children. There is currently no cure for the disease, there are medications and therapies that allow those who contract the disease to live long and full lives. Unfortunately, many people living with HIV/AIDS won’t ever get the necessary medication, and the RED campaign is making a valiant effort to change that.
In 2006, Bobby Shriver and Bono created RED with the simple goal of creating an easy way for businesses and people across the world to contribute to the fight against the disease, and they’ve already made an impact. Over 365 million dollars has been raised towards the initiative and over 70 million people have felt the effects of RED’s campaign.
