Two years after it was pulled by her former label, Talia Mar is finally giving ‘A Bitch Always Knows’ the release it was always supposed to have.
The multifaceted singer and creator has returned with the bold, upbeat single, following her comeback earlier this year with ‘Lady’. Equal parts playful and defiant, ‘A Bitch Always Knows’ transforms the discovery of infidelity into an anthem about trusting your instincts, knowing your worth and refusing to stay down when someone else has betrayed you.
Rather than wallow in heartbreak, Mar leans into the messier, more empowering side of the experience. The track’s catchy energy and unapologetic attitude turn suspicion into certainty and betrayal into a chance to take back control.
There is an added significance to the song’s arrival now. Originally written two years ago, ‘A Bitch Always Knows’ was pulled from release by Mar’s previous label. Its eventual resurrection as an independent release therefore feels like more than simply another chapter in her return to music: it is an act of reclamation.
“After having ‘A Bitch Always Knows’ pulled from release at my previous label, it feels extra special to release it as an independent artist two years later,” Mar says.
That sense of ownership runs through Mar’s new era, which sees her embracing her strength and power on her own terms. A song that once sat unheard has now become a particularly fitting soundtrack to that shift – turning a frustrating chapter into something she can finally claim for herself.
And she won’t be keeping the new material confined to the studio for long. This September, Mar will embark on her first-ever solo tour, taking her across the UK with dates in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol. The run will culminate with a headline show at London’s KOKO on October 6th.
For an artist stepping into a new era of independence, there could hardly be a more fitting song to lead the charge than one that insists, from its very title, that your instincts were right all along.
