Just one week away from the 2018 American Music Awards (AMAs), the performances for this year’s show are starting to be revealed. This morning Taylor Swift, along with a not so excited Meredith, announced on Good Morning America, then later on social media, that she will be opening the award show with “I Did Something Bad.”
This track is a favorite among hardcore Swifties and now America, if not most of the world, will be singing along to the iconic lyrics of “If a man talks s***, then I owe him nothing.” This song is important for what is happening in today’s world.
After the announcement, the hashtag #TaylorSwiftAMAs was trending worldwide on Twitter.
There has been a lot of speculation that “Getaway Car” would be Swift’s next single, with the track even receiving radio play on stations in Australia and New Zealand. However, maybe she is hinting that the iconic “I Did Something Bad” will, in fact, be the next single.
Could a music video premiere at the award show? With Swift, there are surprises around every corner. We will have to tune in to find out!
The performance will be the first awards show performance in nearly three years for Swift. She last performed at the AMAs in 2014 where she sang “Blank Space.”
Swift is also nominated for three AMAs, including Album of the Year, Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock, and Tour of the Year.
Along with AMAs nominations, Swift is nominated at the People’s Choice Awards and is wrapping up the U.S. leg of her sold-out Reputation Stadium Tour before taking it to Australia and Tokyo.
Tune in to the AMAs on Tuesday, October 9th at 8/7c on ABC to see Swift and many others, including Carrie Underwood, Post Malone, Mariah Carey, perform. Make sure to vote for your favorites too.
