Taylor Swift is one of the worlds biggest pop stars. She has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, had the biggest selling album of 2014, and for the majority of 2015 also, and embarked on her ‘1989 World Tour’, which became one of the biggest tours of this year.
Despite all of this, she has remained one of the industries most generous and kind souls, even when dealing with significant hate from the media and general public.
From the get-go Taylor has been all about thanking her fans for helping her become the star she is today. In 2010, Taylor held a 13 hour long free meet and greet as a thank you to her loyal Swifties, something that many others in her position have not done. 5 years later, Taylor Swift has remained unchanged by still holding free meet and greets at every single date on her world tours, with ‘Loft 89′ being the current name for this event.
As well as this, Taylor began to send Christmas presents to some of her most loyal Swifties last year in an event she named ‘Swiftmas.‘ Taylor posted a vlog of her wrapping the presents and explaining how she lurked on their Tumblr blogs to find out their likes, to buy the best presents possible for them. During this time, one fan received a check for $1,989 to help pay off her college tuition fees.
Not only is Taylor giving to her fans, but on numerous occasions she has donated incredible amounts to multiple different charities and terminally ill fans. Earlier this year, a video was posted online of ,11 year old Naomi who was suffering from Leukaemia. After Taylor has seen the video she donated an incredible $50,000 to help her get the treatment she needed.
The 1989 singer has also donated $50,000 to New York City public schools, and to charities including Feeding America, PETA, Hands On Nashville, Red Cross and Stand Up To Cancer. After filming the music video for her latest single ‘Wildest Dreams’ it was announced at the end of the video that any money made from the single and video would be donated to ‘Africa Parks Foundation Of America’, to help protect and preserve wildlife.
Taylor Swift is no doubt one of the most caring people in the public eye, and despite the somewhat controversial things that have taken place this past year, should be praised for her selfless acts.
