Congrats Taylor Swift! Her “Look What You Made Made Me Do” music video has reached 1 billion views on YouTube and it just keeps climbing.
This is her fourth video to achieve this milestone. The other 3 are “Shake It Off.” “Blank Space,” and “Bad Blood,” all from the 1989 era.
The video has only been out for about 1 1/2 years and it has already reached this milestone. Can you say iconic?!
Swift joins Katy Perry, Shakira, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj as female artists to have 4 videos reach over 1 billion views.
As the lead single off of Swift’s sixth album, reputation, the video broke the record for the most views in 24 hours following its release, reaching 43.2 million views. It beat Adele’s “Hello” music video and was surpassed by BTS’ “Idol.”
The video first premiered on August 27, 2017, at the MTV Video Music Awards and fans were shook. It gave us the unforgettable line of “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, cause she’s dead.” Since then, Swift has proven the old Taylor is alive and well and doing better than she ever was.
It was named the fifth best video by Rolling Stone and the sixth best music video by Billboard.
The video marked Swift’s comeback after taking some time off after the 1989 tour. It made fun of the things people said, wrote, sung, etc. about her and the way the media depicted her.
What a great way to end 2018 and the reputation era! We are so happy for you Taylor.
