Teaser Trailer For The Reverent Released

Wild. That’s the first word that comes to mind when watching Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s teaser trailer for The Revenant. After the success of his last film Birdman, excitement has definitely been building for his next offering. Moving completely away from Birdman, The Revenant is a western thriller set in the 19th century. Adapted from a Michael Punke novel, the film is inspired by the true story of Hugh Glass who is played by a grizzly bearded Leonardo Dicaprio. A fur trapper who is mauled, robbed and abandoned by his fellow hunters, Hugh Glass proves that Hell hath no fury like a fur trapper scorned. “I ain’t afraid to die anymore…I’ve done it already” sets the tone in this trailer, brilliantly representing the film which is set to show Glass’s brutal journey to avenge himself as he seeks vengeance on those who abandoned him (Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, Lukas Haas, and Domhnall Gleeson).

Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu in a statement said  “This is the adventure of a man who survived the unimaginable through a long exterior journey to seek revenge and an inner journey to understand and recover all that he has lost.  I wanted to tell the story without relying on special effects. I spent five years searching for the most powerful and unexplored landscapes, where we shot using only natural light on the rocky terrain of the remote wilderness of Canada, for a long period of time to evoke a very visceral response for the viewers.”

We’ll have to wait until the 15th of January to watch it here in the UK, but for now take a look at the teaser trailer below:
