Nearly two decades after The Devil Wears Prada strutted its way into pop culture history, 20th Century Studios has unveiled the first teaser for its long-awaited sequel — and it wastes no time rekindling that signature mix of style and bite.
Released Wednesday morning, the teaser opens to Madonna’s “Vogue” as Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs steps into an elevator behind Meryl Streep’s icy editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, who turns and quips, “Took you long enough.” The brief exchange offers no plot hints, but fans didn’t need more as social media immediately erupted with excitement at the return of fashion’s most fearsome duo.
Directed once again by David Frankel and penned by Aline Brosh McKenna, the sequel is slated for theatrical release on May 1, 2026. Alongside Streep and Hathaway, original stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprise their roles, reuniting the iconic Runway magazine quartet. This time, the story reportedly shifts to Miranda’s perspective as she grapples with the decline of the print industry, hinting at a timely reflection on the evolution of modern media and influence.
The film also introduces an impressive lineup of new faces, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman return as Lily and Irv, while Lady Gaga has been spotted filming scenes in a still-undisclosed role.
