The Bolshoi Ballet opened its doors to audiences in cinemas worldwide earlier this year, for the 11th season. It started with Romeo & Juliet followed by The Lady of the Camellias and now continues with everyone’s favourite Christmas time ballet, The Nutcracker.
We were lucky enough to be able to watch The Nutcracker recently and were instantly put in a festive mood by the beautiful production.
The Nutcracker tells the classic story of Marie receives a nutcracker doll as a gift on Christmas Eve. In her dreams, the toy turns into a courageous and charming prince, who takes the girl on an unforgettable adventure.
Filmed live in Moscow in December 2018 Bolshoi dancers Margarita Shrainer, Semyon Chudin, Denis Savin and Alexandre Vodopetov use choreograpy by Yuri Grigorovich paired with the classic and timeless score by Tchaikovsky bring the story to life.
They sweep the audience upon a magical journey with Marie as she dreams of her prince and is by her side through a daring and breathtaking battle with the mouse king.
A timeless, classic and unforgettable tale that holds appeal for all ages and is an enjoyable way for families to get into the spirit of the festive season.
