As summer 2024 draws to a close, Tia Kofi gives us all the feels with the release of their dreamy new single ‘The First Time’.
Co-written by the singer along with Julian Wharton and Simon Jones, the super romantic, synth-pop bop sees the UK’s most recent Drag Race champion sing about falling in love as a queer person for the first time.
With it’s sentimental, and touching lyrics exploring themes of acceptance and joy, a vocally mature sounding Kofi tells of the happiness, and freedom a person can feel after years of hiding who they really are.

The single serves as the theme tune for ‘Heartstopper: The Official Netflix Podcast’, which launched yesterday (September 2nd), and accompanies the third season of the much loved LGBTQ+ series.
As well as performing the theme song, Tia will also host the YouTube and audio series, which according to a press release will be “packed full of exclusives” and feature interviews with stars of the show such as Joe Locke, Kit Connor, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Tobie Donovan and Rhea Norwood.
So far, 2024 has without doubt been an EPIC year for Tia Kofi!
After launching their hit sci-fi podcast ‘The Final FronTia’, and being crowned ‘Queen of the Mothertucking World’ winning RuPaul’s Drac Race UK Versus The World in March, the pop diva released their debut album ‘Read My Lips’, which reached the Top 10 on the UK independent album chart.
Away from the recording studio, they were one of the main stage performers at Brighton Pride alongside Girls Aloud, opened London’s Mighty Hoopla Festival and even hosted the Opening Ceremony red carpet show for the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo.
