Rising star Tom Abisgold is throwing himself a pity party on earworm new single ‘Died@18’.
The 20-year-old takes fans back to his 18th birthday party on his latest release, which follows the success of January’s ‘soggy cigarette’.
The songwriter, who rose to fame on Britain’s Got Talent five years ago, has shaken off the reality show tag to emerge as an exciting artist in his own right.
With trademarks of playful guitar-led production and quirky lyrics, the singer is a surefire favourite for fans of Dominic Fike, Remi Wolf and Harry Styles.
Speaking about ‘Died@18’, Tom told CelebMix: “The song came from a feeling I had on my 18th birthday that my life was over before it had really begun.
“I missed out on a lot of normal ‘growing up’ experiences and so the idea that ‘it’s all downhill from childhood’ made me feel like the best part of life had passed by without me knowing. The opening lines of the song sum it up perfectly!”
Last week, the star invited a select group of fans down to record backing vocals on the song and is set to celebrate the track’s release at an event on Friday. He added: “I wanted this to be everyone’s song instead of just mine and the idea of their voices actually being on the song just felt right. It was very chaotic and a whole lot of fun.”
Having supported James Marriot on tour earlier this year, Tom teases that ‘a lot more music’ and a ‘lot more live shows’ are on the cards for the rest of 2024.
