Tom DeLonge of Blink-182 Explains Why He Left the Band Two Years Ago and It’s Not What You’d Expect

Tom DeLonge, best known as the original guitarist and co-vocalist of Blink-182, left the band in 2015. Blink-182 fans and even its band members were left clueless as to why he left so suddenly.

After two years of not knowing DeLonge’s reason for leaving the band, he finally revealed why in a live broadcast.

In the first few minutes of the broadcast, DeLonge explains how he used the money from the first paycheck he received after getting a record deal with Blink-182 to purchase a desktop computer so that he can “research the possibility of intelligent life in the universe.”

He also explains how he had a passion for the belief of intelligent life existing outside of our planet. His passion for the subject is evident in Blink-182’s song, “Aliens Exist.”

DeLonge’s company, To The Stars Inc., was formed in the same year in which he left Blink-182. Under the media company which he had created, he released a series of books based upon the sci-fi genre and the subject of alien life that he is so passionate about.

He also explains how Blink-182 was “unraveling in the press” at the time that To The Stars Inc. was getting on its feet and that he was secretly traveling the U.S. for eighteen months while working his way through “NASA, the Department of Defense, and various “other” agencies.”

In the live broadcast, the former Blink-182 frontman presents a plan to “bring the unimaginable, the stuff of dreams to the world.”  You can watch the presentation in its entirety below:
