Hands down: The ’90s were a pretty special decade!
Of course, we all immediately think of some pieces in fashion we shouldn’t be wearing, or our parents shouldn’t have made us wear.
But one thing is for certain: The music is unforgettable. We made childhood and teenage memories which we revisit when one of these songs are played.
As we are facing lockdown on different levels and all kinds of restrictions right now, it’s even more important than before, to stay focused on the positive things in life.
They might not be as obvious, as we try to get through our day and stay healthy, so we, at CelebMix, decided to take you on a little journey back in time!
The Top 5 Dance Through Quarantine – Playlist could be extended endlessly, but we came down with 5 of the most significant songs which will remind us of the ’90s musically at it’s best.
Sweet Dreams by La Bouche (1994)
The US- group, which was formed originally by the singer Melanie Thronton and the D. Lane McCray Jr., was the most successful Eurodance – duo of the 1990s!
Their debut single Sweet Dreams happened to be their breakthrough song which made them famous all around the world. Europe, Canada, Asia, just to name a few.
The original band members stayed together until 2001.
Melanie Thornton then left La Bouche to pursue a solo career. Sadly, the dream of being a solo artist was never meant to take off properly.
Melanie died in a plane crash in November 2001.
D. Lane McCray Jr. started over to perform with a new female singer as ‘La Bouche’. We wish them the best for their future projects, but the one significant voice of ‘La Bouche’ will forever be Melanie’s.
Spice Up Your Life by Spice Girls (1997)
There’s no on who doesn’t know the Spice Girls!
Mel B, Victoria Beckham (née Adams), Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Mel C – were THE Girl Band of the ’90s! And till this day, we are able to name them the most successful girl band ever!
We still love them for the ride they took us on from the start as Wannabe was released.
However, the ONE song which belongs onto the Top 5 quarantine playlist is another one.
Spice Up Your Life, because that’s why we created this playlist. To Spice Up Your Life!
Mmm Bop by Hanson (1997)
The three brothers from Tulsa, Oklahoma shot to fame in 1997 as their first single, signed to a major label hit No. 1 worldwide in 1997! Mmm Bop is a song everyone remembers once you say their name!
Even ‘Mmm Bop’ is their best-known song, the band isn’t a one-hit-wonder.
Started in 1992 as indie musicians until they rose to fame and became commercially successful 5 years later, they went back to where they started in the early 2000s.
After being held back by their record label in the process of the making of their 3rd album ‘Underneath’, Isaac, Taylor and Zac decided to start their own label ‘3CG Records.’
The whole process was captured in the documentary ‘Strong Enough To Break.’
Since the start of their label in 2003, they were able to release four more albums so far. The last one, released in 2017 ‘Finally It’s Christmas’ included all their favorite Christmas songs.
Boom Boom Boom Boom by Vengaboys (1998)
Has there ever been a 90’s party the music of the Vengaboys weren’t a part of?
The best-known combo of the dutch Eurodance – quartet from Amsterdam consisted of Kim Sasabone, the lead, Roy den Burger – the cowboy – Denise van Rijswijk – the girlie – and Robin Pors was the sailor.
Yes, they are mostly known for their hits in the ’90s, early 2000s, but the Vengaboys are still going!
After their wave of commercial success, including seven Top 10 singles, they mostly perform in club settings again since 2001!
Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega (1999)
The ’90s wouldn’t be what they are if there wouldn’t be this ONE song. This ultimate mega-hit the world will forever sing and dance to.
After it might be a bit too much in 1999, simply because it was EVERYWHERE, Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega is the ultimate summer hit the 90’s needed to come to a close.
Turn the volume up, start dancing and enjoy!
