Poppy has shared the official trailer for her new YouTube Red project I’m Poppy, which will focus on the YouTube star as she navigates the real world outside of the internet for the first time.
YouTube hosted the premiere of I’m Poppy yesterday at the Sundance Film Festival with a screening of the 24-minute pilot as part of the festival’s indie episodic track. As of now, the project exists only as a single episode with the potential of becoming an entire series.
I’m Poppy will be made available to the YouTube Red subscription service tomorrow, Thursday, January 25th.
In the trailer, Poppy, a young pop singer and internet star, signs a deal with a TV network executive impressed by the star’s huge following online. However, Poppy will soon learn that fame and fortune comes with a price, including hate, particularly from a jealous mannequin named Charlotte.
Poppy first made her debut on YouTube in 2014. Her videos confused viewers for her performance art that saw Poppy act very much like an android. In her videos, Poppy created her famous catchphrase of “I’m Poppy,” for which the YouTube Red Original is named after.
I’m Poppy will premiere tomorrow, Thursday, January 25th on YouTube Red.
