Twenty One Pilots, consisting of members Tyler Joseph and Joshua Dun, had a fantastic year. After the release of their second studio album Blurryface, the album hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 134,000 copies in its first week, making it the duo’s first #1 album ever.
The three singles that they released before the official launch of the album were Fairly Local, Tear In My Heart, and Stressed Out. Fairly Local peaked on the charts at #84 and stayed in that position for 1 week. Tear In My Heart peaked at #82 and stayed there for 2 weeks after its initial release. Stressed Out is currently at #19 on the charts and has been on the charts for 13 weeks straight, helping bring more popularity to the group.
They began their Blurryface World Tour on May 11. The tour consisted of 28+ shows, covering The United States, Australia, South East Asia, Japan, and Europe.
The duo had many iconic live performances over the course of this year, like their sets at the Lollapalooza, but the one that brought them the most attention was their performance on the VMAs. They performed a medley of heavydirtysoul, M$, and LSD with A$AP Rocky.
This year they have been nominated for 6 awards. At the AP Music Awards they were nominated for Best Live Band, Most Dedicated Fans, and Fandom of the Year. At the MTV Europe Music Awards, they were nominated for Best Alternative for their 2013 album Vessel. Lastly, at the Teen Choice Awards their song ‘Tear In My Heart’ was nominated for Choice Rock Song.
Over all 2015 has been a successful year for the duo and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year.
