Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt S2 E7 Review

Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is here and we feel like we’ve been waiting forever since Season 1 aired March 6th, 2015.

We’ve sat down completely willingly and have already binge-watched the entire 2nd season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and decided to review what we thought was utter perfection for a follow-up season! We can promise you that you will not be disappointed by Season 2, it is just as hilarious as Season 1, maybe even better!

There are spoilers ahead in this article, each episode of Season 2 has been written about and labelled so you know where you can read to if you’re only a few episodes in and you don’t want any spoilers. You have been warned!

The theme tune still has us jamming every time and it’s great to hear it once again, let’s talk Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!

Episode 7: Kimmy Walks into a Bar.

Kimmy gets hit on at a bar by Keith, an army veteran and leaves the bar without his number and without the dress that she picked up for Jacqueline and her gala. Keith returns the dress using the address on the label, to Jacqueline’s place. Kimmy then invites Keith to Jacqueline’s gala where Keith suffers from a minor PTSD episode. Kimmy is suffering PTSD following her time in the bunker. Keith tells Kimmy she needs to admit she’s hurting as the first step and see somebody for help.

Jacqueline realises that she’s booked her gala on the same day as rival rich woman Deirdra has her fundraiser for Lupus Awareness, Awareness so Jacqueline has to come up with a plan to get back at Deirdra in a rich mistress rivalry game which Deirdra encourages. Jacqueline realises that nobody wants to fund her campaign as it is to do with Native American heritage and none of the rich friends she has are interested in Jacqueline’s beliefs or what personal significance this has to her.

Titus struggles with listening to Mikey in the new relationship he’s in and is struggling to deal with not having things about him all the time. Titus is conflicted and unsure if Mikey just does not like to talk with his friends or if he doesn’t have any friends.

Episode 7 was less funny but more realistic. Conflicts happen in life whether they are internal like Titus was feeling or external like the conflict between Deidra and Jacqueline. It’s important to always have a backup plan or to admit that things aren’t going your way. As for the lesson we learnt with Kimmy, it is important to admit that you’re not ok sometimes. After all, it is ok to not feel ok.

Our favourite quote from the episode is:

“Did you know that poor people don’t have to do gala season?” – Jacqueline.
