I want the good life but I don’t want an easy ride. What I want is to work for it, to feel the blood and sweat on my fingertips.
Calling all Madonna lovers! Everything you’ve been waiting for is finally on its way.
Thanks to Universal Studios, the original screenplay ‘Blond Ambition’ is officially in the works. The script written by Elyse Hollander, topped the 2016 Black List – making it one of Hollywood’s most-favored un-produced screenplays. Luckily, we no longer have to worry about it going unseen!
The biopic will predominantly revolve around the jumpstart of Madonna’s career, starting with her debut album. Concurrently, it will also highlight the journey of handling her fame with her love life; a dramatic exposure that’s bound to be eye catching.
While there has been no confirmation from Madonna herself, it seems as though we’re in good hands. Brett Ratner, who directed the singer’s Beautiful Stranger video, is set to be one of the producers behind the film. John Zaozirny of Bellevue Productions and Fifty Shades of Grey producer Michael De Luca, are also part of the production team.
Madonna moved to New York from Michigan in 1978 to pursue dance but segued to singing and writing songs. After failing at a rock band, she switched to dance and pop. Achieving some success with a few dance singles, she began working on her debut album, Madonna which was released in 1983. The album yielded hits “Holiday,” “Borderline” and “Lucky Star,” and set the stage for her ground-breaking Like a Virgin album. – The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite Blond Ambition being Hollander’s first official debut script, she has a fairly impressive track record. She worked as an assistant to Alejandro G. Inarritu while creating Birdman, and also with co-executive producer Kourtney Kang of Fresh Off The Boat.
There is no set date for when the film will be released, but we’ll certainly be on the edge of our seats until then!
